Should you Remove Gills from Portobello Mushrooms

A lot of you wonder why I removed the gills from portobellos. While the gills are edible, I choose to remove them, because they add a bit of muddy flavor. However, it is perfectly ok to leave them, if you prefer. Here is a video from America's Test Kitchen you might find interesting:How to Properly Prepare Portobello Mushrooms

Are these Mushroom Burgers Healthy?

Depends on how you serve them. The "burger" itself is just a marinated mushroom. It is Whole30 compliant, low carb, keto-friendly, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free. It’s suitable for pretty much every eating style out there. Serve the "burger" on whole wheat bun, together with fresh veggies and some mustard for the most health benefits.

How to Serve Mushroom Burgers

Choose your bun. Use the bun you enjoy most: potato bun, ciabatta bun, kaiser roll, pretzel roll, keto hamburger bun, or English muffin.

Choose your sauce. Mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, BBQ sauce, blue cheese, or ranch dressing are among my favorites.

Choose your toppings. Get creative! Popular options are: lettuce, tomatoes, onions, avocado, bacon, spinach, arugula, caramelized onions, grilled peppers, grilled eggplant, and pickles.

Choose your cheese. Fresh mozzarella, Swiss, provolone, Monterey Jack, feta, goat cheese, or cheddar are popular options.
